How to use the AI Product Optimizer?
The AI Product Optimizer improves your product content so it's easier for AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity to understand, recommend, and cite, while also strengthening your Google SEO.

It works on the content AI and search engines actually read: your product titles, descriptions, meta titles, meta descriptions, image alt text, and FAQs.

A few things worth knowing up front:
By default, it only optimizes the fields that need work. Strong fields are left alone.
Nothing goes live automatically. You review and publish every change yourself.
Everything you optimized in the past is still live and unchanged.
What "Needs work" means
Every product is measured against a set of simple content checks, for example: does the description exist and have enough substance, is the meta title the right length, do all images have alt text, are FAQs present, is product schema active.
Each product gets a Health score (like 5/7 or 8/8) showing how many checks pass. Your whole catalog rolls up into a Catalog Health percentage at the top of the page, so you can see at a glance where you stand and what's missing.
By default, the optimizer only generates content for fields that are empty or failing a check. It skips fields that already pass, so you don't overwrite good work or spend credits where you don't need to.
You can change this in AI Product Optimizer settings to optimize all fields instead, if you'd rather refresh everything.
Step 1: Choose your products
Open the AI Product Optimizer from your StoreRank dashboard.
Use the tabs to focus your work:
Needs Work for products with the most to fix
Review Changes for products with drafts waiting for you
All to see everything
Select one product, several, or use Select all to work in bulk.
Tip: Start with your best-sellers and the products that already get AI traffic. That's where improvements matter most.
Step 2: Optimize
Click Optimize (or Optimize Selected for a batch).
The AI generates draft improvements for the fields that need work:
Product title
Product description
Meta title and meta description (for both Google and AI)
Alt text for all product images, not just the featured one
FAQs
On the Professional plan and above, Smart FAQ uses real customer questions and high-intent search queries, rather than generic AI-invented ones, so your answers match what people actually ask.
Nothing is published at this stage. Everything is saved as a draft for you to review.
Note: To display FAQs on your product pages, make sure to follow this guide: https://help.storerank.ai/en/help/articles/9887591-how-to-display-faqs-on-your-product-pages
Step 3: Review and edit

Open a product with the Review button to see the review screen. Here you can:
Compare your current content against the AI-optimized version, side by side, field by field.
See a live Google preview and AI shopping preview so you know exactly how the product will appear before anything goes live.
See a breakdown of what's strong and what's still missing.
Edit any field directly, or uncheck a field to keep your original.
Tip: Review FAQ answers with your brand voice in mind. Smart FAQ is a strong starting point, but small tweaks make them sound like you.
Step 4: Publish
When you're happy, click Publish all changes (or publish per field).
Only the fields you approved go live on your product pages.
Open the product on your store to confirm it looks right.
Once published, the product shows Changes Live in its status, and its Health score updates to reflect what's now passing.
Tip: With many products, optimize, review, and publish in groups to keep things manageable.
Step 5: Keep it fresh
Product content and search behavior change over time, and AI platforms tend to favor content that's current and complete.
Revisit products periodically, especially your top-sellers and the ones driving the most AI traffic.
When you add new products, run them through the optimizer to fill any gaps.
Keep an eye on your Catalog Health over time. A rising score means more of your catalog is complete and well-structured for AI and search.
A note on results
The optimizer makes your product content as complete and well-structured as possible for AI and search engines. That's the part you control, and it's an important foundation.
Whether a product actually gets recommended or cited by AI also depends on factors beyond your product pages, like your store's overall authority and how often other sites reference you. You can track how your brand is actually showing up in AI answers in the AI Mentions Tracker.
